KSANews.ca Launches Three Inclusive Funding Streams to Support Lived-Experience Contributors and a One-of-a-Kind Resource Hub

For many years, the Kamloops Self Advocate Newsletter has been dedicated to amplifying disability voices, promoting mental health understanding, and expanding accessibility awareness. As the platform evolved into KSANews.ca, its mission expanded as well—focusing on empowering contributors with lived experience and developing a comprehensive community resource hub unlike anything else currently available in Kamloops or across British Columbia.

While community members, organizations, and supporters have always appreciated this work, the previous funding options did not meet the needs of everyone who wished to contribute. KSANews.ca relied mainly on two existing revenue streams: the Ability Friendly Accessible Business Certificate and newsletter advertising. These options primarily appealed to businesses, leaving non-profits, agencies, and community groups without a way to participate meaningfully.

To address this gap, KSANews.ca has introduced a more accessible and inclusive funding model, offering three unique support streams that reflect the different needs of businesses, non-profits, and community organizations—while helping sustain the lived-experience contributors and the expanding resource hub.

1. Ability Friendly Accessible Business Certificate

The first funding stream is the long-established Ability Friendly Accessible Business Certificate. For $50 per year, businesses receive a framed certificate acknowledging their commitment to accessibility and inclusion. They are also listed in the monthly newsletter. This program allows businesses to visibly demonstrate their values while supporting a platform that uplifts people with disabilities and other lived experiences. It remains an important way to build a more inclusive business community.

2. Newsletter Advertising

The second option is newsletter advertising. Organizations can choose from various ad sizes and durations depending on their budget and goals. This option is ideal for businesses, programs, and agencies seeking visibility while supporting an initiative that champions lived experience. The revenue from advertising directly helps maintain the resource hub and supports contributors who share personal stories, insights, and experiences that help educate the wider community.

3. Annual Sponsorship

The newest addition is the Annual Sponsorship—a flexible $100-per-year contribution designed especially for non-profits, agencies, grassroots groups, and community programs that want to support KSANews.ca without purchasing ads or certificates. Sponsors are publicly acknowledged in the newsletter as mission supporters. This option fills the long-standing gap that prevented many non-profits from participating, giving them an affordable way to help sustain the platform’s expansion.

A Unique Resource Hub for Kamloops and Beyond

One of the most significant aspects of KSANews.ca’s growth is the development of a resource hub unlike any other in Kamloops or across BC. This hub brings together disability supports, mental health resources, accessibility programs, community services, peer-support networks, and lived-experience guidance—all in one accessible digital space. No other platform in the region offers such a comprehensive, community-driven collection of resources curated by and for people with lived experience.

Moving Forward Together

With these three funding streams, KSANews.ca is building a stronger, more inclusive support system. Whether through accessible business certification, advertising, or sponsorship, every contribution helps nurture lived-experience voices and maintain a resource hub that fills a vital gap in the community.

This new model ensures that organizations of all kinds—big or small—can help strengthen accessibility, awareness, and community connection throughout Kamloops and across British Columbia.
