The Kamloops Self Advocate Newsletter March 2025

Welcome to the March edition of the Kamloops Self
Advocate Newsletter!
This month, we reflect on resilience in the face of adversity. The recent Los Angeles fire destroyed homes, belongings, and cherished memories.
Yet, the bravery of firefighters and the kindness of communities remind us of the power of compassion during difficult times.
We also honor Florence Girard, who tragically passed due to neglect. Her story highlights the need for better care and respect for individuals with
disabilities. By learning from lived experiences—like Krystian’s insights in this issue—we can advocate for meaningful change.

Our new Professional Tips section supports those working with individuals with disabilities, offering guidance and success stories to inspire better care. We also spotlight Autism on the Seas, a service helping families

with diverse needs enjoy accessible vacations. With spring break approaching (March 17–21 in Canada), it’s a great time to plan quality time with loved ones.
